Journal CME Instructions

There is no charge for taking CME tests on the Mayo Clinic Proceedings site.

To receive CME credit, please do the following:

  1. To select an article for journal CME credit, click here
  2. Read the article and click on Take the Exam
  3. Create your CME account or log in
  4. Complete test and evaluation (There is a required 80% pass rate in order to earn credit, with 1 retake allowed, on any article released starting July 1, 2011.)
  5. Print your Record of Participation
  6. If you encounter problems or have questions, contact cme@mayo.edu in the Mayo School of Continuous Professional Development.

*If you are an individual subscriber, you need to activate your online subscription to receive full-text access to the article, if you have not already done so. You can do so by clicking on Subscribe on the home page and then on Activate my individual subscription. You will need your customer number that appears on the front label of your print journal to do this. At this point, you can also choose your login and password for the site.

These educational activities are the publication and review of and reflection on peer-reviewed, timely and clinically relevant articles. Physician participation in the activities consist of reviewing articles and responding to on-line questions. It is estimated that this activity will take approximately one hour per article.

College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, designates this Journal-based CME activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
